Prof. Dr. Selim Gürgen, a faculty member at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ), explained the strategic importance of cork composites, a natural and sustainable material, in the aviation and space sectors.
Referring to the areas of use in the field of aviation, Gürgen stated that cork composites are used as vibration dampeners, especially at the connection points in aircraft structures.
Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Gürgen, stating that cork composites have an indispensable place in space studies, explained that the material is used particularly in thermal protection systems.
